For 7 years in the late 1990s and early 2000s, Brendan curated an Arts Council (NI) funded concert series as part of the weekly music session at Forkhill. Many great musicians and singers from the tradition performed through the years. One of these was Enda McNamara, who played this tune and gave a copy of it to Brendan, who subsequently taught it. Enda recorded the hornpipe on the recording made with his siblings and father of music from the Stephen Grier (c.1824–1894) manuscript, “Leitrim’s Hidden Treasure”.
Absolutely sensational - love the generally low-end tones and planxty-esque set up, but most of all the incredible energy of it! Wish more instrumental trad was like this, love the fact that it's recorded live too. Prangman
